We’re inspired by the people who have touched our lives and the lives of many others–our special needs children. Frankie, our general manager is the proud mom of a son with Down Syndrome, and Michael and Karilyn, the owners, are blessed with a daughter with a rare condition called Septo-Optic dysplasia (see Nord.org).
As parents, it is our mission to see that when our children are grown, they are as independent as possible. The population which faces the most discrimination in the workplace is those with special needs. And because they are differently-abled, their chances for employment as adults are disheartening.
Because of constant budget cuts and astronomical living expenses, we’ve created Liquid Wisdom Tea Shop to help them face these difficult challenges as they become adults.
In the loving surroundings of our shop, we have provided them with simple tasks they can master to boost their self-confidence. There are always special people around from customers to other staff who treat them with respect and love.
When you buy a product from our stores, you are helping our children to become self-sufficient so that when they become adults, they can cover their living and medical expenses with little or no help from government programs.
One of our pending missions is to provide other parents with the tools to start their own businesses which will help them cover catastrophic expenses without going broke, an all too familiar, terrible reality.
